   If you’re looking for a good and yet "different" family movie, then "Winky’s Horse" is well worth exploring. This foreign family film from the Netherlands will pull heartstrings you never thought you had. It’s the touching story of a Chinese girl named Winky who moves with her mother to the Netherlands to be with her father who runs a Chinese restaurant there. Sounds simple enough, right? 
     Well, the touching part comes with Winky’s desire to own a small horse that she found one day when she came across a farm. Her parents won’t allow her to have a horse because they believe that horses are "dangerous" animals. The farmers allow her to take care of the horse as if it were her own. Unfortunately, the horse is too old for Winky and dies before she has a chance to enjoy it. It isn’t until she meets "St. Nicholas" during the Christmas season at school that she dreams for a horse to call her own.
     This movie, filmed in Dutch, is a charming movie that will appeal to moviegoers (常看电影的人)tired of the normal lively menu for families that we are so used to seeing. "Winky’s Horse" will also appeal to dreamers of all ages. The pace is great and the length at 95 minutes is suitable for young school-age children. 
     The story itself is attractive and helps young viewers to use their imaginations and may even get your kids dreaming about a horse. The little girl who portrays Winky is brilliant in the role and innocent enough to enchant every adult and child viewer. Does Winky get her horse?
